Bertha Alexander Obituary

Bertha Lee Alexander was born December 10, 1949 in Sunnyside, Mississippi to Charlie McGee and Mattie Barcus. Bertha was fondly know as "Bert" to her family and her many friends. Her mother Mattie Barcus would give birth to seven (7) other children, Aslee "Sister Rabbit" Lewis, Claudia "Mutt" Hampton, Solomon Price Rose Proctor, Willie Mae "Red" Gresham, Dorothy "Dot" Hudson of all who preceded Bert in death along with her mother Mattie and father Charlie. Bobbie Jean Allen, the baby, is the only living of the siblings.

Bertha accepted Christ at an early age at the Zion Watts M.B. Church in Sunnyside. She later moved to Chicago Illinois to live with her brother Solomon Price where she attended Delano High School.

Bertha later met and married Elin Alexander in 1964 and would later on give birth to four (4) beautiful spirited daughters who loved her dearly.

Bertha was loving person to be around and always full of fun, the life of any party she attended. She really didn't meet a stranger for she had a people's spirit heart and always strong willed in giving her advice and words of support. She will be greatly missed by her family and the many friends she made during her life especially in the Los Angeles area. Take your rest Bert.

Bertha Alexander leaves to cherish her lasting memories four (4) daughters, Brenda Alexander of Chicago, Illinois, Jackie B. Shaffer of Hemet, California, Cecilia Alexander of Greenwood, Mississippi, Sharon (Steve) Evans of Temecula, California, a God daughter, Yolanda Reynolds, a sister Bobbie Jean "Betty" Allen of Los Angeles, California. Also cherishing her memories are her grandchildren Toland, Shunnetta, Dreka, Ja'Kiya, Montravius, Ian, Larry, Michael, Karen, Davion, Rose Jasmine, and Tiara; great-grandchildren My'Kel, Ka'Voreia, Montravius, Jr., Montravius, Da'Voreia, Ma'Leia, Makayla, Arlonda, Janiya, Carson, Ty'jon, and host of nieces and nephews.
